What wines is Rahona known for?

Rahona is best known for its award-winning méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines, crafted using the same traditional bottle-fermented techniques made famous in Champagne. We also produce a range of premium spritzes unique to the Peninsula, including our popular Sorrento Moon, alongside elegant cool climate wines such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Syrah.

Do I need to book a tasting at Rahona?

Bookings are recommended, especially on weekends, public holidays and for groups. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows. Use this link to book

Does Rahona cater for groups, birthdays, hens or bucks?

Yes. Rahona welcomes group bookings for birthdays, hens and bucks groups, celebrations and social gatherings by prior arrangement. We’re one of the few wineries on the Mornington Peninsula able to accommodate larger groups of over 20 guests.

There is ample on-street parking available, and buses can pull up directly outside for easy drop-off and pick-up. We recommend contacting us in advance so we can help create the best experience for your group.

Is Rahona near Red Hill?

Yes. Rahona is conveniently located in Dromana and is a great stop when exploring Red Hill, Main Ridge and the wider Mornington Peninsula wine region.

Can I buy Rahona wine online?

Yes. A selection of Rahona wines and gifts can be purchased online through our website.

Does Rahona host live music or events?

Does Rahona have an outdoor space?

Yes! We have a lovely outdoor seating area set amongst the barrels with tables, umbrellas, and chimineas (outdoor fire) to keep you warm in the cooler months. Please note that the space is not undercover, but umbrellas provide some protection from the weather.

Is Rahona dog-friendly?

Absolutely. We welcome well-behaved furry friends in our outdoor area. Dogs must remain on a leash and be mindful of other guests.

Is Rahona inclusive?

Absolutely. Rahona welcomes all guests and is committed to creating a warm, respectful and inclusive environment. Our toilets are gender neutral, and we want every visitor to feel comfortable and at ease.

Is Rahona child friendly?

Yes, families are welcome at Rahona, and we’re always happy to host guests of all ages. We offer a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere where parents can enjoy a tasting or a glass of wine while visiting together. As a boutique cellar door, we don’t have dedicated children’s play areas or activities, so we recommend bringing along anything little ones may need to stay entertained during your visit. We do our best to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. 

Is Rahona wheelchair accessible?

Absolutely. Our cellar door is fully accessible:

  • No stairs or steep surfaces
  • Parking available directly outside
  • Accessible unisex toilet facilities
  • Flexible table configurations for wheelchair access (we offer table seating in addition to barrel seating)

What tasting experiences do you offer?

Does Rahona serve food? 

Yes, Rahona offers a selection of share plates, light food and snacks designed to enjoy alongside our wines. We have a range of gluten-free and vegetarian options available, with some vegan choices also offered. Our menu can vary seasonally, so feel free to ask our team about the current selection when you visit.

First time visiting a cellar door – what should I expect at Rahona?

A cellar door visit is simply a chance to taste wines where they are made and enjoy a relaxed wine experience. At Rahona, there’s no need to know anything about wine — our tastings are friendly, welcoming and designed for everyone, from beginners to enthusiasts.

You can choose a tasting flight (3 wines), enjoy a glass or a bottle, ask questions, and discover new favourites at your own pace. There’s no pressure and no wrong way to enjoy it.

Do I need to know about wine to enjoy a tasting?

Not at all. Wine tastings are for everyone, whether you’re completely new to wine or already know what you enjoy. At Rahona, our tastings are relaxed, friendly and designed to help you discover wines you like without any pressure or pretence.

We believe everyone has their own palate, and tasting is all about learning what you like and don’t like. Ask questions, trust your own palate, and simply enjoy the experience. There are no wrong answers — the best wine is simply the one you enjoy drinking.

Can I buy wine by the glass or bottle?

Yes, absolutely. You’re welcome to enjoy Rahona wines by the glass or bottle without booking a formal tasting. Whether you’d like to relax with a glass of sparkling, share a bottle with friends, or explore a few different styles, we’re happy to help you choose something you’ll love.

Does Rahona offer drinks other than wine?

Yes we offer alternative drink options including beer, mixed drinks, and some cocktails. You are sure to find something to satisfy you.

Does Rahona offer no-alcohol alternatives

Yes we are an inclusive venue and offer a variety of alternatives for those not drinking alcohol including non alcoholic beer, wine, G&T, along with premium sparkling flavoured  waters and mocktails.

Do you have any vegan wine?

Yes some of our wines are vegan friendly, ask us which ones. 

Do your wines have sulphites? 

Yes, the reality is all wines have some level of sulphites. We use a small amount of sulphites in our wines but this is at much lower levels than large commercial wines.  Our wines are made in small quantities and are not shipped around the country and therefore we do not need to add the large amounts of sulphur typically used by mass produced wines. 

How do you pronounce Rahona?

Rahona is pronounced “Ra-hone-a“. It’s a unique name that reflects the distinct personality of our brand and wines.
